Frequently Asked Questions
  1. Do I Need Experience To Take Courses?
For Introductory and Base Courses, a little familiarity with hand tolls such as scissors, utility knives, screw drivers, sewing, leather or woodworking exposure is a plus, but a love of working with your hands will go a very long way.
  2. Do You OfferPayment Plans?
We try to make it as easy as possible to remit your tuition by accepting most major credit cards. In rare occasions, we have accepted a payment plan for the most costly 18 day program. Please inquire if you may need to do this for your 18 day program.
  3. What's Included In My Course?
Everything you will need. Except you, of course. All base courses include all materials to make your footwear (limited to what we have in stock at the time), use of tools/machines & supply/resources sheets.
  4. Do You Have Scholarships or Student Aid?
We do not currently offer scholarships or student aid. We do, however, offer a discount for returning students, & early enrollment. Please inquire if this pertains to you.
  5. Does The Shoe College Teach Vegan Footwear?
We sure do. Since we do not carry stock of a range of Vegan materials as well as leather, students making Vegan footwear should bring desired materials to work with to assure 100% Vegan outcomes.
  6. I have strange feet, is there a course for that?
Depends what you mean by strange! Supplement your Base Course with the Last-Adaptation 1-day Add-On & learn how to accommodate a wide range of foot issues.
  7. Do students use kits at your school?
No. Why? Because kits limit the ability to make design choices to what is prescribed by the kit. You "think" you're designing/constructing a shoe, but it's really more like doing a paint by number painting and then calling it an original work of art. We teach the know how that erases those constraints.
  8. I hate working with my hands!
All of our programs and courses require hands-on participation, so probably not right for you, but The Shoe College does consultation, should you need info and advice on a wide range of shoe biz topics.
